Mouraria

A traditional Lisbon quarter identified by some scholars as the possible cradle of fado; the place where Severa, a mythical figure in the world of fado, lived and died.

Mouraria is where the Moors were allowed to live after the Christian reconquest of Lisbon in 1147.
It's a very authentically Lisbon neighbourhood, known as the birthplace of Fado. Legend says that It was here that the first great Fado singer lived in the 1800s, the legendary Severa.
