Discover the former glamour of the movies at the Cinemateca de Lisboa, in one of the city’s most sophisticated streets. You’ll be happy you took a detour from the avenue.
In a discrete and elegant street running perpendicular to the Avenida da Liberdade is one of the most interesting areas of Lisbon. Rua Barata Salgueiro has restaurants, companies and a place chosen to protect and preserve Portugal’s cinematic heritage.
The Cinemateca provides screenings, presentations and film festivals, museum exhibition, a bookshop and a restaurant. But there’s a lot more to see too, preferably in dark rooms and comfortable chairs with surround sound.
It’s worth dropping in for some time to feel the absolute magic of cinema once again.
