Coppélia returns to the stage with the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Carneiro. A ballet where illusion and fantasy are mixed with humour.
Somewhere between reality and illusion, and the human fascination with automata which goes hand in hand with advances in science and technology, Coppélia or the Girl with Enamel Eyes is a ballet that connects illusion and fantasy to humour.
Centred on Swanilda and her fiancé Franz, the story revolves around the young woman's jealousy for a girl who regularly appears at the window of the mysterious dollmaker, Dr. Coppélius.
Unaware that this is Coppélia, a mechanical doll, the couple finds themselves involved in a series of ridiculous adventures.
