More than any other musical form, Fado has been a presence in the Portuguese arts since the eighteenth century.
This exhibition is a tribute to preserving the legacy of Fado as a many-faceted artistic expression and celebrates it as a living heritage, full of memories and future.
As the visitor is exposed to a selection of artworks, different narratives and perspectives are on show, from eighteenth century foreign travellers through to the modernist visions of Cândido Costa Pinto or João Abel Manta, as well as contemporary canvases of João Vieira and Júlio Pomar.
