Centenary of Amílcar Cabral’s Birth | The voices of Tito Paris, Cremilda, Lura and Isa IIolanda will join the Sao Luiz stage.

In 2009, the OML played in the stunning setting of the Salinas de Pedra Lume on Sal Island.

It was the first time that a classical orchestra had performed in Cape Verde, and at that time they played alongside Tito Paris.

Fifteen years later, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of April, the voices of Cremilda, Lura and Isa IIolanda will also join them on the Sao Luiz stage, on this occasion to mark the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral, the African political leader who idealised the liberation of peoples under colonial domination and pursued this goal militarily and diplomatically until his fateful death in 1973.

Vasco Martins’ Oceano Atlântico Symphony opens the programme.
