The New Year Concert by the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa is already a tradition and could not be missing this year.
Even because it is the best way to start the orchestra's 30 year celebration.
This is a concert for those who cannot do without the music from Johann Straus II. In fact, it has already become a ritual to start the new year with waltzes and polkas.
The Metropolitana suggests a rich concert: overture of the operetta The Bat, op. 367; Voices of Spring Waltz, op.410; Artist's Life Waltz, op. 316; Blue Danube Waltz, op.314; Pizzicato Polka; Bauern Polka, op.96ª; Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, op. 214, among other classical pieces like the Lyric Waltz, the 3 Pieces for Orchestra, op.96a, by Sibelius, or the Waltz of the Flowers, from the ballet The Nutcracker.
Maestro Pedro Neves will be conducting the musicians.
