[ 12 > 13 JUNE ] Lisboa will be buzzing with light, colour and music in a state of permanent street partying to commemorate the Popular Saints.
Every year, the people of Lisboa greet their patron saint, Saint Anthony.
And, taking advantage of the warm nights, ideal for eating out in the open-air, the alfacinhas (an affectionate term for natives of Lisboa) commemorate from 12th to 13th June, with a series of initiatives as the Marchas Populares, a costumed parade of the traditional neighbourhoods down the Avenida da Liberdade and the Arraiais (street parties) at all city neighborhoods in which the grilled sardines are an essential feature.
A party that is uniquely lisboeta, which every year draws thousands of people onto the streets of the city and that only winds down early the next morning.
