The Municipal Council of Cascais is the executive body of the municipality and its mission is to define and execute policies that promote the development of the Municipality of Cascais.

Its territory, occupied by the Municipality of Cascais, is located to the west of the Tagus estuary, between the Sintra mountains and the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered to the north by Sintra county, to the south and west by the ocean and to the east by the county of Oeiras.
