MFA Command Post

The MFA (Armed Forces Movement) command post was the hub of military operations against Portugal’s dictatorship.

Details

Between 24 and 26 April 1974, the officers who led the 25 April revolution organised and directed operations from this command post inside the Pontinha Barracks. The command post has been fully renovated and refurbished and visitor support structures installed. The aim of this has not only been to make the most of the site but also, and mainly, to serve as an interpretation centre for school parties and all those interested in the landmark events in Portugal’s history.

Location
