The National Museum of Theatre and Dance is the main archive preserving the memories and history of performing arts in Portugal: Theatre, Dance and Opera.
The museum manages a vast legacy of more than 150 years. We have one of the best railway heritage collections in Europe. Here you will find real national treasures, wonderful engines that travelled through history.
The museum is set in Madre de Deus Convent, founded in 1509 and its collections allow a journey through the history of tile, from 15th century till present days.
The Navy Planetarium was inaugurated on the 20th of july 1965 by Head of State, Admiral Américo Thomaz, and Minister for Public Works, Azeredo Perdigão.
The museum’s collection covers decades of the artistic and cultural output and social intervention of one of 20th Century Portugal’s most decisive cultural movements.
