As Janelas Verdes is a small charming Boutique hotel in the historic center of Lisbon.
This small 18th century palace is next to the National Art Museum in the romantic Rua das Janelas Verdes.
Eça de Queirós, the famous Portuguese novelist, is connected to the hotel by tradition and there are those who say that he lived and found inspiration here in this palace for another magical home - “O Ramalhete” in his novel Os Maias.
The memory of his presence is still very much alive in the atmosphere we find ourselves immersed in: small objets d’art, books, paintings and mementoes take us back to another era now being relived.
The house like the street of the same name, deserves to be discovered slowly, little by little, all the time savouring its gentle, romantic, welcoming atmosphere.
The rooms are sunny and cheerful. The Tagus is close by. One feels good here… When Spring arrives, the days begin with a wonderful breakfast served in the garden while you breathe in the calm of an older Lisbon where it still feels good to feel love.
