Campo Pequeno

Find out more about the history of a bullring that has been converted into a venue for cultural events where countless concerts and shows are staged.

The brick-built Campo Pequeno bullring was opened in 1892. Inspired by the bullring in Madrid and designed in a neo-Arabic revivalist style, the Praça de Touros was totally renovated in 2006. It’s history is integral to the development of bullfighting in Portugal, a history that the museum evokes. This tradition is worth discovering at the Campo Pequeno museum, which was responsible for developing the extraordinary Lusitano horse breed. The bullring is also a venue for markets, events, shows and concerts thanks to its flexibility. It also houses several galleries in a versatile and welcoming shopping centre. Come and discover a place where the traditional and the urban meet.
