Christmas Concert - Dixit Dominus by Händel
The Choir of the São Carlos National Theatre, led by conductor Giampaolo Vessella, together with the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra present Händel's Dixit Dominus.
Composed in nine movements, it presents, as the text demands, diverse musical atmospheres and environments, from the most brilliant exuberance to the most intense drama.
It is Händel's earliest musical autograph and presents the language of the Italian Baroque in all its splendour.
The show also features Mozart's Concerto No.9 for piano and orchestra, commonly known as Jeunehomme, written at the age of 21 in Salzburg and composed for Victoire Jenamy, daughter of the famous dancer and choreographer Jean-Georges Noverre, whom Mozart had met in Vienna in 1773.
