The Bacalhôa Wine Estate and Palace sit amongst a unique landscape with a historical setting that dates back to the beginning of the 14th century. The architecture and decoration of the Palace's gardens reveal influences from the Portuguese discoveries. Over time, the Estate has been embellished with 15th and 16th century Portuguese tiles evoking Moorish patterns and designs. Both on the inside and out, one can admire unique pieces from Comendador Berardo's private art collection, and walk through the gardens and vineyards to the 'casa de fresco', where we can find the first Portuguese tile ever dated.
At the Bacalhôa Museum, visitors may enjoy the Tasting Room while admiring the tranquil scenery of the Japanese Garden. The Exhibition Hall takes us on a journey through works of art divided into three thematic groups: African Art, Portuguese Tiles and Art Deco.
The Bacalhôa Palace, Museum and Wine Estate are located in Vila Fresca de Azeitão.

Built in the 19th century, the JMF Museum House was later restored, in 1923, by Swiss architect Ernesto Korrodi. The façade and gardens are know for their distinctive beauty, and have always been associated to José Maria da Fonseca’s image.
The tour through the Museum House begins with a brief description of the company's history, followed by a visit to the old wineries: Adega da Mata, Adega dos Teares Novos, where the Periquita wine is aged, among others, and Adega dos Teares Velhos, where the oldest bottles of Moscatel de Setúbal are kept, some of them being relics over 100 years old. At the end of the tour, the visitor will have the opportunity to get acquainted with and taste some of the wines produced by José Maria da Fonseca.
