Point of InterestAn eighteenth-century building, whose architecture is attributed to Carlos Mardel, the man largely responsible for the reconstruction of Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake, where 225-litre barrels enhance the ageing process of the renovated yet historical ‘Villa Oeiras‘ Carcavelos Wine, the wine of the Casa Marquês de Pombal.

Adega do Casal da Manteiga (Estação Agronómica)
Point of InterestCasal da Manteiga is an 18th-century building that seems to have once been a stable used for keeping animals and agricultural implements. After the entire building was recovered, it became the winery where – from 2001 onwards – the production of the Carcavelos liqueur wine started taking place.

Adega de Colares
Point of InterestBounded to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and to the south by Sintra’s mountain range, Colares has been a Controlled Designation of Origin since 1908, and is the westernmost demarcated wine region of continental Europe. The Adega Regional de Colares was founded in 1931 and is the oldest cooperative winery in Portugal. As a local wine cooperative, it attributes great importance to the protection and preservation of the Colares Wine Culture, its unique grape varieties and its original cultivation methods.

Vinha da Meia Encosta (Instituto Superior de Agronomia/Tapada da Ajuda)
Point of InterestThe Meia Encosta Vineyards, at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) - The School of Agriculture, located at Tapada da Ajuda, are the only ones in Lisbon with a role in education, research and production, coming from an experimental and non-commercial perspective.
