These are “The April Festivities”, which offer activities all over Lisboa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, also known as the 25th of April.
There’s lots to see, read, listen to and take part in.
These are “The April Festivities”, which offer activities all over Lisboa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, also known as the 25th of April.
The highlight will be on April 24. Starting at 10 p.m., the evening will begin with a videomapping session, in which photographs by Alfredo Cunha will be projected into the façades of Terreiro do Paço, accompanied by music by Rodrigo Leão.
This will be followed by an evening of music with the concert “Uma Ideia de Futuro”, which will bring together 180 musicians on stage.
From photography to theatre, dance, music, contemporary art and poetry, the aim is to “fix the past, celebrate the present and project the future”.

HIGHLIGHTS
Concerts and Video Mapping on the night of April 24th, evoking the beginning of military operations 50 years ago.

April 25
• Military parade - on April 25th, an evocative military parade will take place in Terreiro do Paço, in Lisbon, followed by other episodes of historical reconstitution: the arrival of the Escola Prática de Cavalaria (EPC) column in Lisbon, with a parade from Sacavém, the capture of Terreiro do Paço, the confrontation with the forces of the 7th Cavalry Regiment and the siege of the Carmo headquarters of the general command.
• The traditional solemn ceremony will take place at the Assembly of the Republic and on Avenida da Liberdade, and on the streets across the country, the traditional popular parade (15h).
